Eight Dates by E.M. Lindsey

“Can I hug you?”

Ben frowned and looked up. “Why?”

“Because this is day two of totally shitty dates, and it’s the holidays, and… I don’t know. I want to hug you.”

After his previous relationship failed so spectacularly, Ben Weiss is more than happy to be on his own. But his brother has other ideas and surprises him by setting him up with eight blind dates, one for each night of Hanukkah. You’d think that in 8 dates, there would be at least one decent guy in the bunch. But as the nights wear on and each date is a bigger disaster than the last, Ben is ready to swear off men completely. And he’d probably follow through with that desire if not for the charming bartender, Nova, who comes to Ben’s rescue every time the dates take a bad turn. Can a string of bad dates wind up with Ben finding love where he least expected it?

“You kept showing up here on all these terrible dates, and I was some monster who was standing behind the bar hoping every single one would be a disaster so I could rescue you.”

This was such a fun story! The premise of being sent on 8 blind dates in a row was unique and let me tell you, these dates were wild! I was either laughing out loud or cringing so hard at these truly disastrous dates that poor Ben was subjected to. Kudos to Ben for soldiering through, I think I would have quit after that first one! The only saving grace was that returning each night gave him an excuse to see the kind and charming bartender, Nova, again and again.

Nova was the absolute sweetest! Total golden retriever energy with that one. He was so nice to Ben and truly was his savior each night – and he got very creative with some of his rescues, it was very entertaining! I loved the sweet little moments between Ben and Nova after each date. It may have only been 8 days but they formed a quick friendship and I loved seeing them flirt with more. They were perfect for one another – sometimes you meet someone and just know they were meant to be in your life. That was certainly the case for these two!

“Look, I think holiday miracles are meant for Hallmark movies, not real life. But you have eight dates, for eight nights,” Nova said. “There’s three more left, and if not one single man in that lineup is even worthy to share the same air as you, then maybe it means I’m where the universe was trying to lead you.”
