When people spoke about Chad Doomsen, I’d been expecting a loud, obnoxious dude-bro, not some adorable monster with sweet eyes and pretty words. It might have all been an act, but if it was, it was a damn good one.
I’m still working my way through Saxon James’s backlist, and I’ve had my eye on this series for a while. I’m so glad I finally decided to start it because this book was so much fun! Chad Doomsen Is the VP of Sigma Beta Psi and has a reputation as a bit of a troublemaker amongst the other houses. Bailey Prince is a legacy and a new member of Rho Kappa Tau, having recently transferred from another school. The Sigma and Kappa rivalry is the stuff of legends so there’s no way Chad should be pursuing his little fixation on Bailey after they meet at a party. But he’s never been one to think things through and he’s not about to start doing so now!
Chad is supposed to be all about scratching an itch.
I’m not supposed to have fun with him.
I’m not supposed to crave him when he’s not around.
I’m not supposed to fall asleep with a smile on my face from messaging him all night.
This isn’t going exactly to plan.
I know I’m probably one of the few people who hasn’t read this series yet, but seriously, how cute were Chad and Bailey?! I was entirely unprepared for how adorable these guys would be. From their very first meet cute Chad set his sights on Bailey and nothing was going to stop him from going after what he wanted.
Their flirting and banter were so good! Bailey resisted things a little at first because, unlike Chad, he stopped to think things through. But he couldn’t resist Chad’s charms for long. And let me tell you, Chad was so charming! He was definitely a dude-bro, but he was also the biggest sweetheart. These guys liked each other so darn much and they weren’t afraid to tell each other how much!
“You’re like the sun.”
“What?”
“It’s like, I know I shouldn’t look, right? But I’m curious and always thinking about you, and whenever we’re in the same place, I can’t help moving closer.”
The pranks and the rivalry between the two houses were so much fun. This is ironic because if I was confronted with any of that in real life, I would be so uncomfortable, but reading about these guys and the crazy stuff they got up to was so entertaining! You couldn’t help but love them.
I loved how Chad and Bailey managed to keep what was developing between them and their allegiance to their frat brothers as two separate things. I appreciated that the angst that did creep up was external to their relationship. I loved them together so much; I really didn’t want some stupid frat politics to tear them apart!
I had a great time reading this book and I look forward to reading the other two books in the series!
“It’s not too late to run, you know.”
“Of course it is.”
“Why?”
“Because now I’ve met you. I couldn’t run if I tried.”
