Roommate Arrangement by Saxon James

“Ah, so, there’s something I should probably tell you …”

I frown but stroke his cheek again and wait for him to go on.

“I have a teeny, tiny crush on you.”

When Payne envisioned his future, he never pictured being divorced and having to move back to his hometown at age 40. But that’s exactly what happens after discovering his husband had been cheating on him. With limited funds, no job prospects, and no place to live he eagerly accepts his little brother’s best friend’s offer to stay in his spare room.

Beau isn’t looking for rent money from Payne but if he can help Beau organize his life and tidy his home, he’ll more than earn his keep. Oh and if Payne could help point out anything he sees that might make Beau undateable, he would appreciate it. Beau knows he can be a little scattered but he doesn’t understand why every date he goes on is a disaster. But perhaps it has nothing to do with Beau’s quirks and everything to do with the fact that Payne is the only guy he’s ever wanted to date.

I don’t want to share him, and I’m starting to feel … something. But what the hell do I have for Beau to be interested in? If there’s anything my marriage taught me, it’s that love is never enough.

I loved Payne and Beau! Poor Payne, his life was upended thanks to his no-good cheating husband. He struggled with his worth, thanks to having to start over at that point in his life. He took a lot of hits but he was no quitter, I loved that about him. He also, understandably, struggled with trust and opening his heart to love again but seeing him slowly falling for Beau was so sweet.

Beau was adorable. He’s pined for Payne since he was a teenager and had to sit by and watch throughout the years Payne was married. Now that Payne was back and single, he figured he’d shoot his shot. I love that he never pressured Payne into more than he was willing to give. Payne was attracted to Beau and they had such great chemistry but since Payne wasn’t sure what he had to offer anymore, he was afraid of hurting Beau. That was the last thing he ever wanted to do. I thought they communicated well and I loved how well Payne truly understood Beau. It was very sweet watching them fall in love. My very favorite part, though, can be summed up in two words: paper cranes. If you’ve read the book, you’ll know what I mean. It was such a simple thing but I swooned every time.

You’re the most perfectly un-normal person I’ve ever met.

I didn’t fail.

There was nothing to improve.

I also loved the whole premise of the series – men over 40 finding love again after divorce. When there are so many books with characters in their 20s, it’s refreshing to read about people closer to my age. I loved the DMC group chat chapters! I can already tell this is going to be a group of guys that I’m going to love a lot and I’m excited to continue in the series.

“You’re the one who was always meant for me. And I’m sorry it took me so long to figure that out.”
