He’s so fucking good looking. And nice.
Since when am I swoony at nice?
I’m in trouble.
Xander Dawson isn’t sure what to think when his car breaks down on a quiet dirt road on the way to his aunt’s house and a kind stranger stops and offers to help him. Where he’s from, people would have just kept on driving but Cope Murphy is not like the people where Xander came from. Cope is charmed by Xander from their very first meeting and keeps finding reasons to spend time with him. As they get to know one another better, Xander awakens feelings in Cope that he never thought he’d have and Cope is eager to do whatever he can to hang on to them.
Last night felt right, and I can’t even begin to explain why.
Xander brings out something in me that I didn’t know existed.
This was such a sweet story! Cope was such a gentleman, it was really cute seeing how confused Xander was as Cope kept showing up and doing things to help out of the goodness of his heart. The country boy/city boy dynamic was so fun. The teasing and flirting between these two was so good. And I loved the slow burn! The sexual tension was real and the payoff was well worth it. These two had such amazing chemistry and the fact that they took the time to build that emotional connection first (hello demisexual rep!) made it even better for me.
The story was low angst, which was nice, I enjoyed seeing these two fall for each other without any unnecessary drama. I also loved being back in Copper Lake. It’s such a charming small town and now, two books in, the characters are familiar and it’s fun to get to revisit them. Loved seeing Shooter and Sterling again. Shooter is a menace but he cracked me up! I really enjoyed this one and I’m already looking forward to the next installment in this series!
“You are the feeling that everyone has always talked about. The feeling everybody is always chasing. The one you see in the movies, in the great love stories. The feeling that I’ve never understood… until you.”
