Budding Attraction by Saxon James

“I paid attention when you were around. There’s something about you that had my attention. Made me want to keep looking.”

I crack a smile and lean in. “Did it ever occur to you, sweetheart, that you’ve been attracted to me this whole time?”

“Not until I just finished talking.”

After Orson lost his wife, he thought that was it for him. He had his chance at love and had lost it. After regaining control of his life, he was content to just live a quiet life back in Kilborough where he owned the florist shop in town. All of this is thrown up in the air, however, when Ford Thomas walks into his shop. Ford is a relentless flirt and there’s something about him that makes Orson want to flirt right back. The two form an easy friendship but Orson doesn’t think it could ever be more because he’s never been attracted to guys before and as much as he likes Ford, he’s not sure he could go there. But Ford is willing to wait him out because he’s never wanted anyone as much as he wants Orson. As the attraction between them builds, Orson has to decide whether to give in or continue to deny himself the shot of a second chance at love.

Everywhere he touches me burns in the most incredible way, and it’s been too long since I’ve had this. This gut-swooping, skin-tingling kind of high. I’d resigned myself to the idea I’d never have it again when Ford stomped into my shop with those heavy boots, tight pants, and attitude too big to be contained.

I love this series and each book is even better than the last. Ford and Orson were so good together! From the start, the flirting was so much fun. Ford was a huge flirt, it was something he did to help put others at ease because he realized he could seem intimidating. But it turned out that Orson gave as good as he got when it came to flirting back. I loved that even though Orson was sure he was straight, he was perfectly comfortable with the flirty banter.

The bi-awakening was handled so well in this one. Orson was doubtful about actually being not straight but he was good at going with the flow and was never close-minded at the possibilities. He was also so open and honest with Ford, once again I loved the communication here (mature characters for the win!). When Orson realized that maybe he wasn’t completely straight, I loved the fact that he was all in emotionally but was still unsure about the physical aspect. It felt very believable to me. Ford was so understanding and patient with him, more than happy to just follow Orson’s lead. Some incredibly sweet and ultimately hot scenes stem from this.

I loved these two so much, they were sweet, sexy, and funny. I loved seeing the rest of the DMC crew, their group chats crack me up every time. And I’m so excited to read the last two books in this series!

I might have doubted I’d ever find love again before him, but I know, without a doubt, that Ford will be my last. I’m never giving him up. And I’m so glad he decided on me, too, because I never want to imagine my life without him.
