Bromantic Puckboy by Eden Finley and Saxon James

Look at me and Cody Bilson being besties right off the bat.

Puckboys is one of my favorite series and I love that even 6 books in, the stories are still fresh and loads of fun! I’ve been looking forward to this book since it was announced and it was everything I hoped it would be, and more. I loved everything about these two idiots (affectionate) – they made me laugh, swoon, and even tear up from time to time! Tripp and Dex have been my favorite of the series so far but Miles and Bilson have snuck up toward the top of my list of favs.

“What’s a worse idea?” I ask. “Having sex with a teammate or someone who says brogasms?” I stroke myself a few times.

“Lucky for you, you get both.”

Cody Bilson signed with Nashville to get away from all his ex-wives in Seattle. He’s hoping for a fresh start and to not get married to the next person he dates. Rookie goalie, Miles Olsen, has always admired Bilson, and the two become fast friends. Miles offers to help Bilson keep his vow to stay away from the ladies – though what he ends up offering may be a little unconventional. If he wants to blow off some steam, but not end up married to another woman, why not do it with a man instead? The media eats up their bromance but little do they know that their bro-lationship has gone way past just friendship.

“No one touches my Rook,” he finally says.

I step closer. “Such a big, strong protector. Defending me like that out there.”

These two were so ridiculously cute together. I’m glad I read the Frat Wars series before this because I appreciated Miles’s frat bro vibes so much more (and got a little sentimental at the cameos). Miles had my heart from the moment he showed up to training camp passing out bro-ship bracelets to his teammates. There wasn’t a huge age gap between these two but I loved how it became a thing between them too. Bilson may have been older but he matched Miles’s energy perfectly. Their bromance was meant to be.

I loved all of Miles’s goalie quirks and how every crazy thing he did was shrugged off as just him being a goalie. Honestly, you just had to love him. I loved Bilson too. He was always just the guy who had a million divorces but I loved getting to know him more and it squeezed my heart to learn the reasons why he formed such quick attachments. Seeing his growth throughout this one was heartwarming.

There wasn’t a ton of angst but the stakes were very high for Miles, in particular, if their relationship got out. I won’t spoil anything but this aspect tugged on my heartstrings. I love how all of that was handled.

Of course, there are plenty of cameos from the Collective. These were some of my favorite parts, including a perfect scene with Tripp and Dex and the most epic epilogue ever. I love the Queer Collective guys with my whole heart and I’m so happy to know there’ll be at least one more book on the way!

He’s my best friend because I love spending time with him.

He’s my boyfriend because I love everything else.
