Forgotten Romance by Saxon James

Davey’s the only man for me, and I really hope he’ll remember I’m the only man for him.

I just have to make him remember.

Two years after divorcing because Davey wouldn’t walk away from his job, Mack and Davey are still living together whenever Davey is in town and co-parenting their two young children. Mack can’t believe it when Davey tells him he’s negotiated 12 weeks off from work, the longest period he’d been home in several years. Being around his family this long has Davey longing for how things were before everything fell apart. Mack’s regretted the ultimatum he gave Davey ever since he issued it. He’s never stopped loving Davey and now that he’s got him home for so long, he’s determined to make Davey remember their forgotten romance in hopes that this time Davey will choose him and the kids over his career.

He still loves me. I know that, and I hope he knows that I still love him too. But sometimes love isn’t enough.

How bittersweet that we’ve arrived at the final DMC book! But what a wonderful way to go out. Second-chance romances are tough but I think Saxon nailed it with this one. The longing and the deep love between these guys was evident from the first page and my heart ached for them. It was clear they were meant to be together but they had a lot to work through to get there. Sadly, it took a divorce for them to realize it but sometimes things have to fall apart so you can put them back together stronger than before. I think that’s exactly what happened to Mack and Davey.

“I’m not a strong man. Not when it comes to you.”

“I don’t want you to be strong. Not tonight. I just want you to be mine.”

There were times I wanted to shake them or force them to talk but they got there eventually and everything that happened made sense for their situation. It wasn’t easy. But despite all of that, this was a relatively low-angst story. The longing and pining were intense but overall this book was chock full of romance. I loved how sweet they were together and all the thoughtful things they did for each other – both big and small – as they tried to work their way back together had my heart so full. The fact that the story was set at Christmastime added an extra layer of magic.

Two years. I’ve lost two whole years, countless memories, and piled up way too much angst, all because I called a bluff neither of us knew he was making.

I also loved seeing all the DMC guys throughout this one. There were so many little nods to things from the prior books, which was a nice walk down memory lane. The DMC group chats never disappointed and Art was in peak form – I love that guy! I’m going to miss these guys so much but the epilogue gave me all the feels and was the perfect send-off for this amazing group of characters!

All I’ve ever wanted out of life was to give this man everything he needs.
