Dima Black had been everything I’d expected, and at the same time, absolutely nothing like I’d imagined.
Aww, I loved this book! Dima was so precious. He may have been a rich and powerful vampire but he preferred to spend his time sewing quilts while wearing his bunny slippers. It was honestly adorable. He also loved with his whole heart and when human Casey Freckleman entered his life, he had no hope of not falling for him. Casey had crushed on Dima for years and was thoroughly charmed when he finally got to meet him but Casey’s end goal has always been to become a vampire, a process that would wipe all his human memories. So as much as he might want to start something with Dima, it would only lead to heartbreak – mainly for Dima – once he went through with it. Unless Dima could convince Casey to stay human and spend his remaining years together with Dima instead.
I’ll be here as long as you remember me.
Gosh, the longing in this book was so good! Dima and Casey wanted each other so badly but they were hurtling toward an ending in which Casey would have no memory of Dima and that made them both reluctant to give in to their desires. Because they were both telepathic, though, a lot of their thoughts and desires (particularly Casey’s) were not secrets which only ratcheted up the longing. Dima was very open with the fact that he was incapable of going in half-hearted. And the idea of hurting Dima became more and more unbearable, the closer Casey got to him. It was bittersweet watching these two fall for one another knowing there was an expiration date on their love.
Alive or undead, there is only you and me.
I won’t spoil how it all turns out but it takes a few turns in the last third that will put your heart through the wringer! I was so pleased with how everything turned out, though. Dima and Casey formed such a beautiful connection. The book was sweet and at times heartbreaking, but it was also funny and sexy! I loved all the secondary characters and even though I hadn’t read the first few books in the series, I was never lost or confused. I really liked the whole world this was set in, too. It was a unique take on vampire lore, there were a lot of “rules” I had never seen before but they were very clever and well thought out.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this story and I’m glad I finally got around to meeting Dima, the adorable quilting vampire, and his beloved Moonflower, Casey!
Do you dream of me?
Oh, Moonflower, you are my dream.
