“It was good, right? The night we met?”
His fading smile returns. “Better than good.”
Swoooooon! This book pulled me in from the first page and I didn’t want to put it down until I was done. The first chapter was so magical and ethereal as Logan and Remy met at the festival – the rain, the lightning, the fire dancing. It was so atmospheric, I could picture it vividly in my head. Their encounter lasted mere moments but you could feel the shift within them both from the fleeting encounter. It was no wonder they both spent the months since dreaming about that magical night.
“I’m just a man, Remy. I make a mess of myself as much as the next dude.”
Finally, he smiles again. “You’re not just a man, Logan. If you were, I’d have forgotten all about you.”
When we meet back up with them, Remy has come upon hard times and desperately needs something to go his way. His luck begins to turn when a kind older man agrees to rent him his workshop to get his jewelry-making business back on track. His luck continues to change when he discovers that the man’s nephew is none other than the handsome man he shared that magical moment with back in the summer.
Logan is just trying to hold everything together, between his demanding job as a firefighter and trying to raise his young twin boys, he’s burning the candle at both ends. His only solace has been dreaming of the ethereal fire dancer from last summer. He can’t believe his eyes when he discovers the man renting the workshop on Firefly Hill is the man from the festival. The light that surrounded Remy that night may have dimmed in the months since but the magic that thrummed between them was still there and this time, they weren’t going to let it slip away.
“You’re going to get me in trouble.”
“How so?”
“I’ve been dreaming about doing that for half a fucking year. Now I’ve done it I’m gonna need a new hobby.”
Gah these two!! Their connection was so special and just so easy. I loved how open and vulnerable they were with each other from the start. They were both going through stuff but once they reconnected, they worked hard to help lighten the load for the other. It was so sweet and swoonworthy. I was basically a puddle the whole time I read this, it completely melted my heart. Their connection may have been instant but they took their time building it up to something even stronger. It was all so domestic and lovely. Honestly, this book was like a warm hug. I loved every second of it and I loved how everything came full circle at the end. I can’t believe I had this sitting on my Kindle for a full year before reading it. Don’t be like me, if you haven’t read it yet, run and do it!!
I feel him behind me, his broad body dwarfing mine, his chin on my shoulder.
“It makes a difference,” he says quietly. “Not coming home to an empty house. Thank you.”
