Christmas on Stardust Lane by Garrett Leigh

“You don’t get lonely?”

“So fucking lonely.” Tam touches his good hand to his chest. “But I’ve been broken before, and I don’t have the energy to fix myself again.

Tam’s solitary lifestyle has suited him just fine over the last few years but when it becomes clear his calligraphy business isn’t going to be enough to pay the bills, he’s forced to take on a lodger. It’s the last thing he wants to do but when he realizes his new tenant is the gorgeous man who showed him kindness outside the hospital, suddenly his new lodger situation doesn’t seem so bad.

Bhodi took the room on Stardust Lane as part of his new start. After falling for a man who didn’t love him back, the last thing he wants to do is get mixed up with another guy who isn’t looking for more. But he has a hard time resisting Tam and thinks getting involved with Tam is worth the risk to his heart. As they fall into a comfortable friendship, deeper feelings develop and the love they never expected to have is right there if they’re brave enough to take it.

He makes my heart beat like an incoming storm, but I like the wildness I feel around him. The recklessness, when I’ve spent so long drowning in caution, too scared to face any more pain.

He’ll never hurt me.

Another sweet and swoony holiday story from Garrett Leigh! I think this one was more on the subtle side of swoon compared to Christmas on Firefly Hill but it was still full of it. I loved the friendship that developed between Tam and Bhodi, they were both lonely and could really use a friend. The quiet way they just kept showing up for one another was so incredibly sweet. Once again, it was all so domestic and lovely. I also loved how the hurt/comfort played out, it was minor but it meant so much to both men.

They were attracted to each other from the get-go but they set that aside as they built their foundation of friendship, it was a delicious slow burn. Of course, deeper feelings soon developed and the progression felt completely natural. When they finally got together, their chemistry was so good! We got a little bit of angst toward the end of this one but I absolutely loved how it all turned out and how we got a little glimpse into the future. Just perfect!

“What are you thinking about?”

“How I’ve never thought about a friend as much as I think about you.”

A few other things I loved about this book were the cameos of Logan and Remy and Tam’s relationship with his brother, Sab. He was a great secondary character and I loved how close he and Tam were. I was very excited to see that he’ll be getting his own story next year – he deserves his own HEA and hopefully, we’ll get to see more of Tam and Bhodi in that one too!

“I like you, Tam. Being around you makes me feel good, and I haven’t felt that with someone in… actually, I’m not sure I’ve ever felt it.”
