I’m wondering if he knows I’m not just a guy who was lost on the side of the road.
Maybe he knows I’m a little lost in my heart, too.
Gahhh, this book was so good! Jesse and Brayden had such great chemistry from the first moment Jesse found Brayden on the side of the road, and their connection grew into something so beautiful over the course of this story. Brayden was looking for a reset when he set out to spend some time in nature alone. His car had other plans when it broke down not long into his trip. Luckily, he’s saved by a handsome (and somewhat grumpy) cowboy and taken back to his ranch while he waits for his car to be fixed. The longer he spends with Jesse and his family on their ranch, the more Brayden falls in love with the place and the people there. Making it hard to return to his life as an NHL star, but maybe he can find a way to achieve his dreams on the ice while still building a life with his cowboy.
“Brayden,” he grunts. “You wanna ride a cowboy?”
I loved the dynamic between these two. Jesse was a little more reserved and serious, and Brayden was quick with the jokes and the flirting. They complemented each other so well. I loved seeing them grow closer during the time Brayden spent at the ranch. There were so many swoony and romantic moments. I even got a little misty-eyed over a moose, and that wasn’t on my bingo card! The fact that they had an expiration date on their time together tugged at my heartstrings because neither man wanted to let go. But I loved seeing how everything worked out in the second half of the book, seeing these men fall even further in love and figure out a way to make it work was just the sweetest. Jesse’s protective streak was so hot, and I loved how he wholly supported Brayden and his dreams. They had such a great partnership.
“Maybe that’s been my plan all along,” he growls.
“To ruin me?”
“To make you mine.”
The spice in this book was also amazing! There were a few spicy moments that will forever be seared in my brain. So hot! Their chemistry was off the charts. I loved everything about this book; it was a quick, low angst read. I couldn’t put it down and read the whole thing in one afternoon. I’ve enjoyed all of Jodi Oliver’s books so far, but I think this might be my new fav – Jesse and Brayden were the sweetest together, and I’m so glad they got their well-deserved happily ever after!
“I’m glad I found you that day, Brayden. I’m glad I was able to give you the air you needed to help you breathe again, but there’s one thing you need to know: I will never allow you to feel like you’re suffocating ever again.”
