“Careful, Sullivan,” I said, keeping my tone light even as something warm bloomed in my chest. “You’re starting to sound like someone who likes me.”
“Maybe I do.” He met my eyes, and I saw something vulnerable there, something real. “Maybe that’s not the worst thing in the world.”
I’ll admit, I was drawn to this book because of the cover; it’s so good! And I ended up really enjoying the story too! I haven’t read any of the other books set in Legacy, Montana, but it was the perfect setting for this sweet holiday romance. There were lots of festive places for Adrian to have his holidates, and I loved all the meddling townsfolk. It was full of all the small-town goodness. I also loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Maddox and Adrian. They had such good banter, and I loved that despite how hard he fought to resist, ultimately Maddox wasn’t able to remain immune to Adrian’s charms for very long.
I liked how Maddox’s preconceived notions about Adrian were quickly disproven as he got to know him. Adrian may have been an influencer and knew how to curate moments, but beneath that was just a guy who wanted to feel like he belonged somewhere and someone who wanted to use his reach to help others. It was sweet to see Adrian begin to find his place among the residents of Legacy, MT. I laughed at how everyone kept meddling with his dates, so Maddox always ended up being the stand-in. But seeing the chemistry between these guys, I don’t blame them one bit for interfering!
The story overall was very low angst, which I appreciated. And there was a pretty amazing grand gesture at the end that I totally loved. If you’re looking for a sweet and lighthearted holiday romance with good banter and lovable characters, this is a good one to check out!
