Finest Kind of Fate by J.J. Mulder

I thought this was a nice start to the new series from J.J. Mulder. I enjoyed the world of Siren’s Point and the many interesting characters introduced, whom I’m looking forward to learning more about. This book focuses on childhood best friends Ewan and Shiloh, who reconnect when Ewan returns to Siren’s Point after being away for 7 years.

These two had a bit of work ahead of them to get back on the same page, and Ewan in particular had a lot to make up for after going no-contact for all those years. They weren’t the best at communicating, but they do get there eventually. The overall pacing of the book was a little slow, but ultimately, I enjoyed seeing them find their way back to each other and finally give a romantic relationship a go. Shiloh was such a steadfast and reliable presence, and I loved how he grounded Ewan. He needed someone like that in his life, and Shiloh was more than happy to fill the role.

As I mentioned, we met a handful of other characters who intrigued me, and I’m looking forward to returning to Siren’s Point to learn more about them!
