“Seriously, what do you want?” I ask once I’ve gathered myself a bit.
He tilts his head to the side and lets his eyes wander over me—up, down, and back up until he meets my gaze again.
“You,” he says simply. “Just you. All of you. Forever.”
I really didn’t know what to expect heading into this book but it turned out to be an utter delight! It was sort of a grumpy/sunshine book although I would say that Jude was more cynical and distrustful than grumpy. I absolutely loved seeing Blake worm his way through Jude’s defenses and start to infuse Jude’s life with happiness and laughter. The chemistry between them was apparent from their very first meeting. These two had some of the BEST banter I’ve ever read. Jude’s cynicism tended to manifest itself in sarcasm and Blake played off that sarcasm so seamlessly. I laughed out loud on multiple occasions. There was also a bit of a slow burn as neither one of them, for various reasons, was looking for a relationship. But with the chemistry they had, it was only a matter of time before they broke those rules and once they finally did get together, things certainly heated up fast!
“Stay?” he whispers into my skin.
“You stole my shoes. I kind of have to stay, don’t I?” I glance at him, gaze catching his
“Stay because you want to,” he says softly.
In the end, the decision isn’t that difficult.
“I’ll stay.”
Most of this book was light and fluffy, full of humor and romance but when the angst hit, it hit pretty hard. I’ll admit I did not see that twist coming but I thought it was a good one! I actually got a little misty-eyed during the fallout, my heart hurt for both of these men. If you enjoy a good grovel and a character that’s so in love that they just refuse to quit on the other one, you’re going to love the last few chapters of this book. I won’t give away any spoilers but there were moments after the big twist that squeezed my heart and also took my breath away. I thought it was so well done and the epilogue was very sweet and I loved how true to the characters it was. I can’t believe this was the first book I’ve read from Briar Prescott! I enjoyed every second of it, though, and you can bet I’ll seek out more from this author.
I have never wanted forever.
Until you.
I have never had my heart so shamelessly stolen.
Until you.
