I very much wanted to date this man, maybe wanted more than that with him, but I didn’t know if he would ever give it to me and how we’d make it work if he did.
Declan is one of the hosts of The Vers podcast along with his three closest friends. He’s known as The Loner, outside of his three friends he doesn’t really let people in. He certainly doesn’t do romantic relationships, instead getting by on no-strings-attached hookups. It just so happens that his favorite hookup, Sebastian Cole, has been a repeat customer for the last 10 years. He also turned out to be a famous actor but despite all that they managed to make it work. Now, Sebastian is back in CA after he found his boyfriend cheating on him and is in need of a friend. Declan never balked at their occasional hookups but when Sebastian starts asking him to hang out and do friend things together, he isn’t sure how to handle it. The more they hang out, though, the more Declan wants to keep Sebastian in his life. But do a loner and a celebrity have any chance of making a relationship work?
I was a mess when it came to this man. Did it make me a dickhead that I sort of wished he was a mess when it came to me too? Probably.
I’ve been seeing this series everywhere lately so I finally decided to check it out and I’m glad I did! Declan was such a good guy and the reasons why he tended to be a loner really pulled at my heartstrings. As so many people tried to get him to see throughout the book, he was so deserving of love. It was sad that he had a hard time believing it himself. Enter Sebastian Cole. They had a long history with their hookups over the years but the magic happened when Bastian returned to CA and wanted to actually be friends with Declan. They were so sweet together. Seeing Sebastian dealing with the massive crush he had on Declan was beyond adorable. And it warmed my heart that someone outside of his close friends was finally able to get Declan to see that he was worthy of love and that not everyone would leave him.
I kind of wish The Vers was an actual podcast because I’d totally listen to it. I loved all 4 guys and their friendship was really special. If you love found families, you’ll love this book. I’m excited to read the books for the other 3 guys!
He wanted to be mine, and for the first time in my life, I wanted to belong to someone too.
