Gravity by Tal Bauer

It’s like I can’t escape him. Et non, I do not want to. He can trap me in his gravity pour toujours.

If someone asked me to imagine what an MM hockey romance written by Tal Bauer might be like, it would look exactly like this. It’s got all his signature notes – bone-deep love, overcoming impossible odds, rich details, and sweeping romance. Is it sometimes a little over the top? Sure. But this is pure escapism and I’m not mad at it! I thought Bryce and Hunter’s first meeting at the All-Star game was the cutest. Hunter idolized Bryce and was completely starstruck, it was adorable. I loved seeing Hunter preen under the compliments from his hero. Even if they weren’t aware of what was really happening between them, they fell hard and they fell fast. Then we’re hit with some angst as they’re left figuring out what it all means.

Is this what falling in love really is? Discovering pieces of yourself inside another person? Finding that half of your heart lives within another?

I enjoyed seeing them find their way back together again and solidify their connection. It was a little insta-love but sometimes people are just meant to be together and I think that’s definitely the case for Bryce and Hunter. I had to keep reminding myself that they were both so young (Hunter in particular) because they acted and loved like men far beyond their years. Just as we’re settling into the lovely romance between them, a particularly brutal moment ramps up the intensity for the last 30% or so of the book. I didn’t expect it but the way it all played out was exactly as I suspected it would. I still enjoyed seeing it all play out, though! It was quite the triumph after all they had been through.

If my life has led me to one destination, it’s here. Not to hockey, but to him. I’ll make love to him until the stars fall from the sky.
