“You’ve made me feel loved in a way I never knew was possible … and I’m having a lot of trouble believing that isn’t going to be taken away.”
I read Merry and Sprite last December as one of my holiday reads and it was really cute. This book can technically be read as a standalone but it does continue the story of Jonathan and Forrest, this time from Forrest’s POV, so you’ll probably enjoy it more if you’ve read how everything got started for them first.
Bone to Be Wilde picks up about 9 months after Merry and Sprite and Jonathan and Forrest are happily in love. But when Forrest’s ex-boyfriend returns to Sunset Surf, he’s forced to finally face all the hurt he’s spent years stuffing down. Jonathan wants a future with Forrest but knows the only way that could happen is if Forrest faces his ex and works through any unresolved feelings. It’s the last thing Forrest wants to do but a mysterious spell causes him to forget the one he loves and the only way to find his way back is to finally face his fears.
This was another cute story. I just love Forrest and Jonathan! It was sad seeing them struggling because of Forrest’s ex. Forrest insisted he only wanted Jonathan but Jonathan’s anxieties wouldn’t let him fully believe it. The amnesia spell was a fun way to get Forrest to work through his past. It added the same whimsy we got from the first book with Jonathan’s wish-granting spell. This town is filled with an eclectic bunch of characters, and spending more time with them was fun. There were all sorts of shenanigans and bad jokes that will keep you amused while Forrest fulfilled the requirements of the spell to make his way back to his one true love.
I wonder if we’ll ever get more stories from Sunset Surf. I hope we do because they’re always a good time!
