Not Dating Material by Saxon James

We’re date training and becoming friends, and I’m apparently not his type. But lawd Molly’s pretty. He makes me want to break the rules. I’ve never been so tempted by one person before.

I am having the best time with these Bertha boys! I love the love stories and I love seeing all the interactions between this eclectic group of characters. With Gabe moving out in the first book, his former room is rented to Molly who was college friends with Madden. He decided to relocate to Seattle to get a fresh start. He was tired of his attempts at finding love always failing and thought maybe he’d give the men of Seattle a try. But to his dismay, his bad luck continues in his new town.

He’s surprised and a little intrigued by his new roommate, Seven’s, honesty when he suggests that maybe these men aren’t the problem – maybe it’s Molly that’s the problem. Seven’s words may have seemed harsh but his offer to be Molly’s dating coach was made with kindness. They can practice going on dates and Seven will let him know where he’s going wrong. But the main thing Molly learns is that Seven may be the perfect guy for him. He’s just got to convince Seven of that fact since he feels that Molly deserves someone who can offer him more than he thinks he could.

He’s kissing me.

On purpose.

Now I need to figure out how to make him never want to stop.

Seven and Molly were sweet together. Molly was so eager to fit in, but he often felt like an outsider. Everyone was so kind to him, though, and it was clear they loved him but it was Seven and Xander who took Molly under their wings. Seven and Xander had an extraordinary relationship, bonded by trauma, most people would find their closeness threatening. But Molly got it and I loved him for that.

He understood Seven’s commitment to Xander and never wanted to interfere. He found himself wanting to help, instead. Seven was always there to support Xander but Xander wasn’t always mentally available to return the favor. That’s where Molly came in. He became that support and person Seven could turn to when his demons came for him. It may have been an unconventional arrangement but it worked for the three of them and I enjoyed it. (Side note: Xander is a precious angel and I would do anything for him!)

It kills me every day that this brave, strong, incredible man doesn’t know that he deserves the world. I wish he’d let me show him. I wish he’d let me try to smother him in all the good feelings I could muster up.

Molly was a little ray of sunshine and I loved seeing him flirting and teasing Seven. Their dates may have been for “practice” but they were so adorable and thoughtful, these guys never stood a chance at not falling for each other! Seven sure fought it, though. He was a little grumpy but he was always so kind and protective, he had such a big heart. It was sad that he felt he didn’t deserve someone as pure as Molly but I sure as heck enjoyed seeing him figure out that wasn’t true!

I don’t want to lead him on. I don’t want to pretend like I’m available to give him anything more than bad dreams and a broken soul, but sometimes I look at him and think I can try. Sometimes Molly makes me believe that I can be the type of guy he needs.

  1. i cannot find the answer to this anywhere and it’s driving me crazy so I have to take a stab at it and ask if Xander gets a HEA or storyline anywhere? I noticed the characters overlap and it’s nice to see but I need to know more about Xander because Molly, Xander, and Seven’s story is loveee.

    1. Xander will be getting a book! But i don’t think it’s due out until next year. Madden’s book is coming out first, later this year. But Xander will definitely get a HEA!

      1. ooh me too! Xander, Seven & Molly are my favorite characters, hands down. I love their dynamic but after reading Rush’s story and getting more of Xander and his virgincuddles I really want his HEA and his partner will have to be quite special. I also really love how we got Molly’s dad’s story in the Divorced mens club. I’m trying to find more Bertha boys story crossovers in the other series. 🙂

      2. Have you read the Puckboys series by Saxon and Eden Finley? The Bertha Boys make a cameo in Foolish Puckboy (book 4) because Gabe is one of the MCs in that book! I love all the Bertha Boys so much!!

      3. The puckboys series is in my TBR. I keep seeing things that make me think it’s worthy even though I don’t super love sports romance. Only because I sportsdont know what the heck they’re talking about usually ..but who doesn’t like hockey?? Anyway. Thanks for the recommends. I like all your reviews. Are you on Goodreads too?
