It’s been a long time – too long – since I’ve read a Mia Sheridan book. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read from her in the past, Archer’s Voice is still in my top 5 all-time favorites. So when I was recently looking for something to read and stumbled across this one on my kindle I figured I’d check it out. Also, fun facts – my sign is Capricorn and Talbot is a family name so it seemed like the universe really wanted me to read it!
If I had to describe this book in one word it would be charming. It just had a vintage, timeless feel to it – from the setting to the characters and the romance. It was set in current time but it felt as though it could have taken place years ago just as easily. I wasn’t exactly expecting that but I wasn’t mad about it either, it was easy to get swept up in Brant and Isabelle’s love story. It was very much insta-love but it was sweet and very steamy. There was also a touch of suspense/intrigue woven in the story tied to Isabelle’s past which I also enjoyed – including a twist that I hadn’t seen coming.
Bottom line – this book made me remember the things I always enjoyed about Mia Sheridan’s books – they’re just pure romance goodness – and it makes me want to go back and catch up on some of the others that I’ve missed over the years!
