River and Owen have been best friends for 8 years. All their friends think they’re perfect for one another but they each know how bad it hurts to lose a friendship because you attempted a relationship and it didn’t work out. It’s for this reason that they created a pact stating they would never sleep together. Their friendship means more to them than any attraction they may feel. But, lately, they’ve both been having thoughts that creep over the line of friendship. When they’re snowed in together one night, will they forget about the pact and put their friendship at risk to explore these new feelings between them?
I thought this was a sweet story. It’s very light and has virtually no angst, which might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I enjoyed the easy, feel-good read. River and Owen were basically already in love with one another from the very start of this story, on account of their close friendship over the years. They both had crushes on each other but because of their pact, they’d never acted on it. Thanks to a little forced proximity due to an unexpected snowstorm in the middle of their road trip, though, they finally end up giving in to their mutual attraction. Things were basically smooth sailing after that, which was nice for a change. I kept waiting for something bad to happen but as the chapters wound down I realized (happily) that these guys were just going to get their HEA without much fuss. I haven’t read any of the other books connected to this one, but I’m going to have to check them out because there were several other couples who already have stories out there! If you’re looking for a quick, easy, light read – maybe give this a try!
