The New Guy by Sarina Bowen

I belong here with him. I know that now. I don’t remember the moment he went from being my obsession to becoming my dream.

Swoon! Considering Him/Us is my favorite M/M story and was co-written by Sarina Bowen, you can just imagine my excitement when this book was first announced. It’s not just a new M/M book from Sarina Bowen but a new M/M hockey book – score! And I have to say, it lived up to my expectations. I think Wes and Jamie will always take the top spot for me but Gavin and Hudson certainly gave them a run for their money. They both quickly wormed their way into my heart and I loved reading their story.

Hudson Newgate is the perpetual new guy, perpetually being traded, he’s making yet another new start for Brooklyn. And he’s hoping it’ll be the last, all he wants is a chance to put down roots. Brooklyn seems as good a place as any to do that, especially when he meets his new neighbor, sexy single dad Gavin Gillis and the sparks fly. The only problem is that Gavin also happens to be the team’s new athletic trainer, who can’t afford to lose his job over dating one of his players. Not to mention, history has shown Hudson that making his sexual preferences known to his team may mean a one-way ticket out of town.

Oh boy—a hot hockey player being nice to my kid. Is there anything more attractive than that?

I’m such a goner when it comes to single-dad romances and this one absolutely delivered. Gavin was so amazing to his daughter, Jordyn. I won’t spoil anything but I loved the sort of unconventional way he became a father to begin with, it made me love how devoted he was to her even more. And then seeing Hudson get wrapped around her little finger was just beyond swoon-worthy. The three of them were so adorable together.

I loved the chemistry between Gavin and Hudson. They both had issues that made them reluctant to embark on any sort of relationship but they just couldn’t stay away. My heart went out to them throughout the book for the things they had to overcome to make it work. Again, I won’t spoil anything for you but there is a bit of angst thrown at you throughout this one. But seeing these guys fall for each other was so sweet, I couldn’t put it down! And I’m very much looking forward to the next book later this year, I hope that we’ll get to see more of these two in that one! But either way, it’ll be great to revisit this world.

“Falling for you is the easiest thing I’ve ever done. You smiled at me that first night, and it was game over. It’s just taken me a few months to admit how much I’d risk to wake up next to you every day.”
