Would Olan Stone let me give him a lap dance? With his daughter a part of my class now, I’m curious but also want to be respectful… so no lap dances.
Marvin Block has dedicated his life to being the best kindergarten teacher he can be. His efforts are rewarded as his students adore him and he’s been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award. It’s an award that would mean a lot to him personally but will also go a long way to helping his school secure some much-needed funding. Not doing anything to mess up his chances puts a heavy weight on his shoulders but he’s determined to do whatever it takes. What he’s not expecting is Olan Stone, the hot dad who accompanies Marvin’s newest student joining the class after winter break. Suddenly his attention is split between exploring this new thing with Olan and keeping his eye on the prize and he’s got a figure out how to reconcile what he wants out of life with what he wants out of love.
I’ve had many conferences with attractive fathers. I’m an accomplished educator revered by the community. I can do this.
“Hey there,” Olan purrs in his deep voice.
I might be toast.
This book had me charmed from the first chapter! It’s told entirely from Marvin’s POV and his head was a fun place to be. He sometimes struggled with some mental health issues, but he was the best teacher. He was caring and compassionate with his students; reading those scenes was a delight. The easy way he welcomed Illona into his class warmed my heart, she was a sweet girl and I loved their bond.
Marvin and Olan’s meet-cute was adorable and I loved the little friendship that began to form. The flirty texts, little touches, and lingering looks had me swooning and this was all before they ever kissed! It didn’t take long for things to heat up between these guys and I thought their cautious approach to jumping into a relationship was well-written and believable, given their circumstances. They really were the sweetest together. This book had plenty of steam, though! I loved that their intimate moments weren’t always perfect, there was laughing and fumbling around sometimes but their deep connection always shone through. There were some heavier topics dealt with in this story but I thought they were handled with care and balanced out all the sweetness and humor from the rest of the story.
I think this was a great debut novel and I’m already looking forward to the next book in the Teachers in Love series coming out later this year!
