This book was a nice blend of kinky, steamy moments and wholesome family moments. I really enjoyed it. Colton and James complemented each other so well. Their kinks aligned so well, and I thought they were really hot together. I liked the age-gap twist with the Dom being the younger one, and the forbidden aspect with James being Colton’s professor was also a nice touch. I liked how they tried to circumvent that at first while still giving/getting what they needed from each other (minus the sex). James still got the order and direction he needed, and Colton still got to take care of James. Of course, it didn’t take long for them to crave that physical piece too. They had such great chemistry in all aspects. I loved their dynamic.
I also loved the whole storyline of James gaining custody of his younger siblings, who he hadn’t even known existed. There were so many emotional moments as he tried to figure out this new life and gain the trust of his siblings. It was so sweet seeing how their relationship evolved over the course of the book. And the way Colton stepped in and helped James through it all was just lovely. They created such a beautiful family for themselves.
The story had many elements with the potential for angst, but overall the book was very low angst. There was a tiny bit here and there, but for me, just the possibility of angst was enough. I just enjoyed these two falling in love and becoming a little family.
I would have enjoyed this book plenty if I had eyeball-read it, but listening to the audiobook really elevated the experience for me. Kale Williams was phenomenal at bringing these characters to life. The sexy Dom voice he used for Colton was *chef’s kiss*. If you’re able to, I highly recommend experiencing the story via the audiobook! Kale Williams never misses.
