Elves with Benefits by Jana Aston

I read the first three Reindeer Falls novellas a few years ago and really enjoyed them so I was excited to see there were three new installments this year. Reindeer Falls is the epitome of Christmas cheer, it’s so delightfully over-the-top, but it will instantly get you in the holiday spirit. This story was a fun one, big-city boy, Ryan Sheppard, returns to his hometown to sell the house he inherited from his uncle but is thwarted at every turn by the “Christmas police”, Maggie. I thought Maggie was a riot. She’s not a Reindeer Falls native but instead moved there as an adult as a way to recapture the magic of Christmas she always missed out on growing up in a tumultuous home. She’s not only the town’s realtor but she’s also in charge of enforcing the holiday decor guidelines. The tickets she passes out to Ryan cracked me up. She was almost ridiculously over-the-top with her zest for the season but it was kind of endearing. Of course, it wasn’t all sugar and spice and everything nice, there was just enough naughty thrown in there to keep things interesting and an ending worthy of a Hallmark Christmas movie. I’m going to jump right into the next book to keep the Christmas cheer going!
