The Storm by Briar Prescott

I want him.
I’ve always wanted him.
I will always want him.
I want him forever.

This book felt like vintage Briar Prescott. It had all the hallmarks that made me fall in love with her writing. It was full of amazing banter, a boatload of yearning, and unexpected plot twists. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

A big problem I have with second-chance romances is that we don’t often get to see the characters’ first chance, so it’s hard to be invested in them making it work a second time around. That was not at all a problem here. Clocking in at just over 500 pages, this book graced us with nearly a full-length novel’s worth of Nick and Indy’s love story as teens, then another full-length novel’s worth of them reuniting and finding their way back to each other. We got to see all the ups and downs, the sweet moments, and the heartbreak. It was very easy to become completely invested in their love story and want to see them find their happily ever after.

These two were so perfect together. They were so sweet and happy, and then something happened that blew it all up. It was heartbreaking to see how much time had passed before they finally reconnected. That inexplicable draw they’d always had between them was still very much there, but it was clouded by so much heartache. The yearning was intense in this one. My heart hurt for them, but it made it that much more rewarding to see them come out the other side.

I really enjoyed this story, and Nick and Indy will always hold a special place in my heart.
